Adrift (song)

(spoken)
Do you remember when I used to call you babygirl
you said your heart was mine until the end of the world
Babygirl you must have just been playing me
to escape from the boredom of the life you had before me

(sung)
I can’t seem to climb out from the hole that I’m in
in a darkened room paying the wages of your sins
when you split without a word you didn’t care if it killed me
so why is there something about you still chills me

Do you remember the way you used to message me and hide it
everything about us you covered with lies, must have amplified it
the excitement you felt I felt it too whenever we were together
I believed in you when you said it was forever

I told you things that I never told no one else
you told me the same or that’s how it felt
left with nothing but my own self to take the blame
while you are living your life without any shame

Trying to breath but you know I still love you
there will never be, couldn’t be anyone above you
babygirl I can’t push forward through these feelings
once in a lifetime you know it’s the real thing

I’ve been looking but I can’t find a way to heal me
and nobody except you knows a way to fulfil me
I don’t even know myself what I am without you
I no longer even really care if I pull through

(spoken)
Do you remember when I used to call you babygirl
you said your heart was mine until the end of the world
Babygirl you must have just been playing me
to escape from the boredom of the life you had before me

I wrote this a little ways back and ignored it. I sent it to my producer who really liked what I had in mind (he thinks it might make a decent single, and having had some huge hits of his own I won’t argue). If you’re looking for a rough idea of what it sounds like think Russ, Phora, NF etc. Laying down the tracks for (bass, strings, drums, piano etc).
