Weep

There will be tears today
flowing signs of broken dreams and abandoned hope
face wet under blank stare and
glassed eyes replete with sorrow
their moisture does not nourish
and nothing grows in their barren rain
they crystalize where they land
pillars of salt and sadness
frozen fast in saliferous cenotaphs
weighted heavy as a frigid heart

There will be sobs today
muted heaves of struggled breath and ragged cry
lips trembling under watering eyes
wretched grief for memories
of sonnets and kisses and earnest declarations
of hand in hand and skin to skin
where now no life can flourish or grow
the badlands of the spirit all ice and
parched fields of stone and arid glare
hollow land for an empty essence

There will be tears today
there will be sobs today
weighted heavy as a frigid heart
hollow land for an empty essence
